Court Square To Remain Open Year-Round, Will Close for Some Events

GREENFIELD – Court Square, the roadway that sits in front of City Hall’s doorsteps, will remain open year-round, with occasional closings occurring for community events, such as the Greenfield Farmers’ Market and Greenfield Recreation’s Cornhole Tournament. This marks a change from the previous tradition of closing Court Square from April to November.

“During my time campaigning, constituents frequently communicated to me their desire for Court Square to remain open,” said Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher. “I believe that our new approach to Court Square balances maintaining the roadway’s accessibility while still activating the space for great community gatherings.”

Here are some of the upcoming events that Court Square will close for:

  • The Greenfield Farmers’ Market – Saturdays, April 27 to October 26, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM.
  • Greenfield Recreation’s Firework Fundraiser Cornhole Tournament – Saturday, May 4 beginning at 3 PM.

Court Square is also part of the Greenfield DPW’s paving program. The road will be paved and re-stripped sometime in Fall 2024.
