Parking in Greenfield


The City recognizes the needs of business owners, employees, and residents to have consistent, reliable, affordable parking. Greenfield offers a variety of parking locations and payment options. Paid parking is enforced 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, except Massachusetts legal holidays. Metered and kiosk parking is free after 5 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays. Marked parking permit spaces are available to anyone after 5 p.m. and on the weekends as well.

If you come across a parking meter or parking kiosk that is out-of-order, please report the issue through the SeeClickFix website so it can be fixed as soon as possible.

Annual Parking Permit Rates & Rules Parking permits are available to purchase online for specific city parking lots for $350 a year. Permit parking is enforced Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Anyone can park in permit parking spaces outside of these hours.
Disability (Handicap) Parking Vehicles with a disability plate or placard are exempt from parking fees and time limits.
Downtown Bus & Train Service FRTA bus routes and Amtrak train service are available in Downtown Greenfield.
Library Parking Lot The parking lot next to the Greenfield Public Library is reserved for library patrons only during library hours.
Municipal Parking Lots & Metered Parking Paid parking is available in municipal parking lots and on-street Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Parking is free at all other times. The Passport app is available to pay for parking in all of Downtown Greenfield, if desired.
Olive Street Garage Rates & Rules The Olive Street Parking Garage only allows payment via the Passport app. Payment is required Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. All other times are free. The first hour at the garage is free but still requires the Passport app. The top floor of the garage is free in the spring, summer, and fall and does not require the Passport app. Monthly permits specific to the garage are available for purchase.
Park & Ride MassDOT maintains a free commuter parking lot at 18 Miner Street for people carpooling or commuting.
Pay or Appeal a Parking Ticket Pay or appeal a parking citation via the Passport online portal.
Resident Parking Special free resident parking permits are available at the Treasurer/Collector's Office for certain streets in Downtown Greenfield.
Winter Parking Ban & Weather-Related Emergency Parking The City will declare a parking ban during snow emergencies. No one is allowed to park on-street during the ban. The only special winter parking restrictions are during snow emergencies.
