Greenfield Police Department Leadership Update

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Police Chief Robert Haigh is retiring from his position, effective as of Friday, February 16. The city received a letter confirming his retirement on Thursday, February 15.

In the interim, Acting Mayor Keith Barnicle, with the concurrence of Mayor Virginia Desorgher, who is returning to Greenfield on Monday, February 19, has assigned Deputy Chief William Gordon to assume responsibilities as acting/provisional police chief, in adherence to his preexisting employment contract with the City, effective Saturday, February 17. This ensures continued leadership for the department.

The Mayor’s Office has no additional comments at this time. We will provide updates in the future.
