Todd Dodge Named Acting/Provisional Police Chief

GREENFIELD – Mayor Virginia Desorgher has assigned Logistics Lieutenant Todd Dodge to assume the responsibilities as acting/provisional police chief, effective Wednesday, February 21. Former Acting/Provisional Chief William Gordon will remain as deputy chief for the department.

Lieutenant Dodge will serve in this capacity until the appointment of a permanent police chief.

Chief Dodge started with the Greenfield Police Department as a reserve officer in July 1998 before being promoted to patrol officer in August 1998. Dodge’s background encompasses a comprehensive list of responsibilities within the department, including detective, motorcycle patrol officer, field training officer, bicycle patrol, special response team, sergeant, corporal and most recently as logistics lieutenant.

“I am overwhelmingly honored to be given this opportunity,” said Chief Dodge. “I know from being here the past 26 years how great the men and women of this agency are. I am overjoyed the mayor has the confidence in me to take on this position.”

“I will do the right things for the right reasons,” Chief Dodge added. “We have work to do, that is clear. I am eager to get started on rebuilding the relationship the Greenfield Police Department has with the City of Greenfield. We want everyone in the community to trust in us so we can move forward productively.”
