Recreation Hosting Festive Firework Fundraising Events


GREENFIELD – In preparation for their annual summer firework festivities, the Greenfield Recreation Department is hosting several fun fundraising events over the coming months.

This year’s fireworks celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 6 at 4:30 PM, with the fireworks beginning at 9:30 PM. Sunday, July 7 will be the rain date.

“Each year, our department is tasked with raising approximately $20,000 for our Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. This year, we are getting creative and planning multiple new community events to assist with our goal. We hope you can join us as we work to put the “fun” in this season’s Fireworks fundraising!” says Christy Moore, Recreation Director.

On Saturday, March 2, at 10 AM, an Adult Dodgeball Tournament will occur at Greenfield Middle School Gymnasium. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third-place teams, along with the best-dressed team. The tournament follows a double-elimination format.

Teams must pre-register for the event to participate. Teams are assembled in groups of five and register at a cost of $50 per team. Spectators are welcome to watch the fun at $5 per person. Snacks and beverages will also be available for purchase.

Indoor Mini Golf will take place on Friday, April 5 (5:30 PM – 8:45 PM) and Saturday, April 6 (10:00 AM – 3:45 PM) at the Recreation Department’s 20 Sanderson Street office location. Patrons are invited to showcase their putting skills for $5 per person, while children under three can participate for free. A food truck will be on-site throughout the festivities.

Court Square will be home to the third annual Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, May 4, at 3 PM. The double-elimination tournament welcomes teams of two to register at $50 per team. Payments can be made via PayPal and credit card online or via cash/check made out to Greenfield Recreation w/memo fireworks. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, May 5.

Each game is played until a team secures 21 points. The court/lane length distance will be set to a casual gameplay style of 21 feet apart. Prizes will be awarded to teams that finish in first, second and third place.

The family-friendly festivities include a live DJ, food trucks, raffles and kid activities. Alcohol will also be available to purchase.
