Greenfield Recreation Recognizes 4th of July with Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 1

GREENFIELD – In recognition of Independence Day, Greenfield Recreation will host its annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, July 1, at Beacon Field from 4:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Greenfield Recreation has planned a festive array of activities for the event. Mixed music begins at 4:00 p.m. and will be followed by live music from youth performers at 5:15 p.m., The Uncles at 6:00 p.m., After Glo at 7:15 p.m. and the Greenfield Military Band at 8:30 p.m.

A plethora of summertime food staples, such as fried dough, french fries and ice cream, will be sold by vendors throughout the celebration. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own picnic.

During the celebration, Greenfield Recreation will also present the Fortin Family Award at 7:10 p.m. The annual award pays tribute to Tina and Ken Fortin, a family that regularly volunteered for Greenfield Recreation and the Friends of Greenfield Recreation across three decades. Each year, Greenfield Recreation recognizes an individual or family who embodies selflessness and commitment in their volunteer efforts.

The National Anthem is set to be performed by Frontier Regional School student Adelaide Ehle at 9:30 p.m. before fireworks light up the sky at 9:35 p.m.

The 4th of July Fireworks Celebration would not be possible without community donations. Greenfield Recreation is trying to raise $20,000 for this year’s gathering. Donations can be accepted at recreation’s 4th of July Celebration tent, mailed to the Greenfield Recreation office at 20 Sanderson St or submitted online at https://reg.greenfieldrecreation.com/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/donation.html.

“We hope the weather cooperates for our dazzling display. It is an event you surely will not want to miss,” said Recreation Director Christy Moore.

The rain date for the fireworks celebration is Saturday, July 15. We will notify the public on Friday, June 30, if the celebration will be postponed.

In addition, the Greenmind Fair and Share will take place on Sunday, July 2, at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. The event begins at 12 p.m., with fireworks launching at 9 p.m
